brothers

The boys came to visit their new brother. Unfortunately McKinley couldn't come. She had to leave school early for a migraine and vomiting. Poor kid. She came to see him the next day, but we didn't take a picture.

They are all thrilled to have him here!

Baby Boy

Wednesday October 12th-

6:00 am- got the call from the hospital that we were on hold again today and to wait for a phone call.

11:40 am- another phone call that we could come in. So we hurried before they could change their minds.

1:45- Pitocin finally started. I haven't seen the doctor covering me today yet.

6:00- The much needed epidural. Still no doctor.

10:00- Finally see the doctor. Get my water broken. Only 3 cm dilated. What?!

11:00- 4 cm dilated. My epidural has worn off. The anesthesiologist gives me a bolus, but it doesn't really do anything. Mama Mia!

October 13th

12:00 am- 6 cm dilated. The doctor will check again in 2 hours. "Get some rest!"...yeah right, epidural not working any more remember.

1:00- painful pressure with contractions. I can't imagine another hour of this until the doctor checks back on me. It feels like a bowling ball is about to rip through me. Luckily the nurse checks me and I'm ready to go!

8 pushes. I am grateful it's not three hours like Sawyer because honestly I want to give up and just then the staff tells me to stop pushing and blow my breaths out for a second, and I know that means he's about to come and I can make it! I am so glad this is the last time, because this is killing me!

1:24 am Baby Joshua Crew born...10 lbs 12 oz! He pee'd on the doctor--hee hee. He's a big boy and he's gorgeous.

Try #3

The hospital looks "too busy" again today. Looks like cancelation #3. We're getting sick of it.

I don't want to talk about it :(

Bummer

No baby today.
I got bumped from the induction list today.

They called at 6:00 am to tell us that they will have to call later, between 8-9 am because there were a lot of labors going on right now. But she positively said that they would definitely get me in today sometime.

9:15...no call, so I called them. Shifts have changed so the new charge nurse let me know realistically that things didn't look good. She would call me back before 10 am after she checked with the doctor to see how late of an induction she would allow.

9:45...phone call: maternity is pretty much full and not able to do my induction today. Sorry.

I wonder how many ounces this kid can gain until the next induction date (Monday Oct 10).

I'm going to eat cheese fries tonight and drown my sorrows.

1 year

We have officially been here for 1 whole year. Strange. In some ways it feels like forever and in other ways I feel like we just got here.

And while it has definitely not been fun all the time, it has overall been a good experience. We're learning and growing.

As an obsessive-compulsive planner I am wondering what will be in our future when this year is done. Will an opportunity come up? Will we stay here? Go to a different state? Or go back to Utah?

I find myself to be curious about it, but not anxious. It doesn't matter where we live, as long as we're all together. It will all work out.

Our new addition...

...my new car!

We finally decided that maybe our Nissan Altima wouldn't be so fun with 4 kids. I didn't expect I would have all 4 kids with me at the same time very often once school started, but so far I have had the 3 all together in the car many times (it's close quarters in that back seat). We were nervous to have McKinley sit in the front passenger seat when the baby comes since there is not an air bag indicator telling us it's off or not. So we took the plunge and bought a GMC Acadia with 8 seats...not to be filled with more children...4 is our limit! We just wanted to be able to fit all 4 kids and have the option to fold down most of the back seat to fit luggage or groceries as needed.

So yesterday Kent and McKinley picked it up. I made Kent put a bow on it because it is my very first brand new car! I've only had used cars before. Hayden keeps smelling deeply and commenting how good it smells.

And I am very happy it's not a minivan...I'm just not a minivan girl.

Our Saturday

Today was supposed to be filled with Sawyer's football game that he's been waiting for ALL week, but they closed the fields due to rain last night. They rescheduled it for the second week in a row on Sunday. Try explaining that to Sawyer. He just wants to play football! Last week he said the family prayer and asked Heavenly Father to let him get a touchdown. So sweet!

So while Kent and McKinley were running errands I went outside with the boys and played football with him (he ran plays while I hiked the ball and threw it from the comfort of my chair).

He loves telling me the commentary of his moves complete with fumbles, pick-offs and touchdowns!

While Sawyer and I played football, on the sidelines Hayden and I blew bubbles too.

We were out playing for a good 2 hours in the nice fall weather, waiting for Kent and McKinley to get home.

Then we watched the recorded BYU/USU game (Phew!) and finished the night with candy and the Transformers 3 movie.
