Happy Easter

What a beautiful Easter Sunday! It started around 7:30 when I let the kids check out their basket of goodies. Kent is on day 2 of a migraine, so I had the kids wait until after church for the egg hunt.

We ate a little brunch after changing out of our Easter clothes. The favorite eggs were the metallic ones that had money inside.

We enjoyed the perfect spring weather and the spring creatures!

The kids played with the quickly growing chickens. Maybe next year we'll have some genuine eggs from them to enjoy!

All dressed up in their Easter wear. Love this bunch! Man they're growing fast!

Dino dig

This week at cub scouts we excavated our home made dinosaur dig. Hayden scraped and brushed away carefully for a while, then gave in and smashed away. Our little scientist!

DARE graduation

Sawyer graduated from the DARE program this week. Good job Sawyer!

Gale museum

Josh had a field trip to the Gale museum. After an hour long visit, I talked him into carrying on with our errands. He told me we have to come back there again. He had a great time!

Easter eggs

Family night's activity tonight was Easter egg decorating. Sawyer picked the dye kit with the shimmering metallic-looking paint. I put Kent in charge of the activity because the dyes and crazy children together stress me out. But miracle of miracles, no one spilled, dumped, or broke anything!

Egg Hunt at Grandma's

The annual VL Easter egg hunt was held this week because it worked better for people's schedules. Unfortunately, I got a cold and didn't want to spread it/spend the evening filling tissues with disease around everyone. So Kent took the kids and I watched a Hunger Games marathon.

Josh loved Ashley's little doggies, and couldn't get enough. Until it barked at him.

Jazz night

Sawyer went to a Jazz thing with the neighbor friend. I had to tie his tie since Kent was at work still, so don't look too closely. I need a little practice.

The boys got to have a fancy dinner. Apparently Sawyer ate a lot of rolls, but none of the steak or salmon. Then they got to hang out and play around with some of the Jazz players.

Chicks

We're crazy and decided to get chickens. Of course they are hard to resist when they look like this. We got six, so each of us named and took ownership of one. We got 2 Americauna, 2 Golden Sex link, and 2 California White.

Hayden named his Holly.

Josh named his Lightning McQueen

McKinley named hers Maizy.

Sawyer named his Dawn.

Kent named his Nugget.

And I named mine Abigail because she's a proper lady.

Too bad this super cuteness only lasts a couple weeks. The egg laying won't come for about 5 months.

Eek Gads

The carrots in our garden have always been mediocre. We didn't pull them out last fall because I just thought they'd wither away. This spring, however, as we were making inspections in the garden, we pulled out some pretty hefty ones. I wonder if they're still tasty?
