New Year's resolution...check!

McKinley set a new year's resolution to get into 7th grade honors.  We found out today that she got in!  She is one happy girl.

Night reading

Every night the kids have to do their reading minutes.  Tonight Hayden wanted to use his night vision glasses.  Whatever works!

BYU

McKinley did well in the district Science Fair and is advancing on to the BYU Science Fair again this year.  Way to go!

Mad Science

Hayden loves science!  He just finished a 6 week mad science class.  He has been excited to experiment every night after class.  He is taking his latest take-home to school tomorrow to show his class.  I love my little scientist.

Orchestra tryouts

Today McKinley tried out for the middle school orchestra.  She REALLY wanted to make the advanced orchestra class....and she did!  Yay!

Off track

We are just finishing a three week off track time.  I actually love year-round when it comes to the break times.  The weather was ridiculously warm, and we loved it.  But it put a damper in our winter activity plans.  We went ice skating on some very melty outdoor ice, and didn't get as much use out of our ice skates as we had planned.
We did manage to find some fun sledding snow up Big Cottonwood Canyon with some friends.  We will be making this place a regular stop in the winters to come.

Scary stories

It has been crazy warm lately.  We decided to roast hot dogs and s'mores outside.  Sawyer thought we should tell scary stories.  Soon, Josh wanted a turn to tell his scary stories, about Monster Trucks.  I caught just one of his little frightening tales on camera :)

End of the season

Basketball season wrapped up for the year around here.  Although his team only won 2-3 games total, Sawyer had a great time and loves to get out and play.

A House Divided

Superbowl Sunday found our house divided.  We lived in Seattle and we lived in New England.  Decisions, decisions.
Sawyer was pulling for Seattle.  He was not happy with how it ended.

Sledding

I took McKinley and an old pal up the canyon to go sledding.  It was a fun time!  I can't wait to take the boys back.  This week hopefully.
