Spring Portraits

I broke out the blue background for some spring portraits today. Luckily we managed to get at least one good shot of each child.

(since I've been asked before on a similar picture, no she isn't wearing lipstick, just vaseline.)

Flower Expedition

Hayden asked me yesterday if we could take pictures of flowers, then I could print them out and he could make a book. So we went out together to take pictures. He seemed to enjoy looking through the viewfinder using it as a telescope more than finding flowers to take pictures of. He got a lot of pictures of dirt. Hopefully next week we'll get that book done...maybe for preschool?

Another sweet boy

Sawyer came in suddenly from playing outside while I was making dinner. He had a single purple flower in his hand. He handed it to me and then gave me a kiss and a hug and went back outside to play again.

I love being the mother of sweet boys. Who would have thought I would get three of them!

Later Sawyer decided to move some flowers around in the front yard. He plucked a daffodil from by the mailbox and 'planted' it over near the other flowers. He told me that he "moved the flower because it was all by itself and it might be lonely. So I moved it by the others so that it could make new friends and be happy."

Sweet lil Sawyer.

Oobleck

Hayden had fun playing in (and making a mess with) this 'oobleck' I made for him. It's just that cornstarch/water mixture, but for some reason it now has the name of 'oobleck'. When I was little it was just called "corn starch/water mixture". He had fun, but it was not as fun to him as the 'cloud dough' was. This held his attention for about 30 minutes whereas the 'cloud dough' lasted for hours and hours. I tried to explain the non-Newtonian fluid properties of the 'oobleck', but he didn't care :)

More of our walk

A handsome little fella. He fell and got a few scrapes. I told him they are the badge of childhood...he just wants bandaids on them.

Every night around the table we each tell our favorite part of the day. Despite our fun walk and the looong playtime I spent as "Jessie", his favorite part was still playing the playstation.

I give up.

Springtime is my favorite season. It does however have huge drawbacks here...the ants come out in full force. There are the tiny food ants, and then the gigantic biting ants. We are lucky enough to have regular visits by both in our house.
Why does there have to be opposition in everything. Really?

Spring walk

McKinley, Hayden, Josh and I went for a little spring walk after school. McKinley and I took pictures of the budding spring flowers. It was lovely.

But the cutest thing of all were these little bare feet that finally get to come out for the warm weather!

Sweet boy

Check out those pudgy little arm rolls. I can't get enough of this baby!

Why do they grow so fast?

Signs of Spring

The frogs have hatched. At first I thought it was somebody's house alarm going off. It is fun to hear each evening. The kids want to go frogging this weekend...we'll see.

Forgive the moving car during filming, another car was coming so I had to get out of the way a bit.

5 months old

What this 5 month old is up to:

Goes to bed between 6:30-7pm and wakes up between 7-8 am.
Takes a morning nap for 3-4 hours.
Is horrible at taking afternoon naps (thus the early bedtime).
Eats milk, and a little rice cereal. He's not completely sold on the cereal yet.
Has two little nubbins coming up on his bottom front teeth, but they haven't broken through yet.
Likes to be held and entertained more.
Gets offended if we walk away from him without picking him up and bringing him along.
Is not impressed with strangers.
Has rolled from front to back, and last week rolled from back to front.
Wears 6-12 month old clothes.
Will NOT fall asleep in my arms, no matter how tired he is. This is not good for three hours of church.
Is sweet and handsome and the love of our lives!

My favorite picture! It's going on the wall!

Clubhouse

McKinley and Sawyer decided to play outside together after church. They started playing soccer and ended up making a "clubhouse". They stayed outside for hours by themselves. Which at our house is a miracle, since McKinley won't play outside without me forcing her or an adult outside to watch her or play with her. So I let them play in the old wood pieces despite the constant thoughts of ticks running through my head, because I was just grateful they were playing outside...like kids.

1st grade music show

To my surprise, this year Sawyer loves music class. Yesterday was his 1st grade music show. It was adorable. I had to get McKinley early from school and bring her with me (or else her bus would have arrived home while we were gone). Unfortunately Josh had only one hour of nap for the day so far. As soon as the first song broke out Josh screamed with fear from the loud noise. So I watched to show from the doorway. Luckily McKinley and Hayden sat quietly by each other with no incidents.

I am so lucky to have you Sawyer!

Giggles

Of course before the camera turned on he was full on belly laughing. I got the very mild version, but it's still sweet to watch.

Rockstar

For "G" day at preschool we made a "g"uitar. Then we rocked out. A few weeks ago we watched a Sesame Street episode with Ricky Gervais singing a funny "N" song that had us both cracking up (google it, it's funny). Hayden was literally on the floor laughing so hard he was crying, which made me laugh even harder. So if you watch the video, that's what he's singing. It's one of our go-to funny songs for our family. He's a good little rockstar.

P.S. Excuse the ending, he was gassy I guess. Ha ha! Oh he will kill me when he's a teenager and this is floating around on the internet!

Bonjour!

McKinley's class at school is doing a little penpal correspondence with another class...from France!
They all had to take home a "Flat Stacey" over winter break to do something with and tell the French class all about it.
Among the things we did on break was playing football (real football, not soccer) together.

Here's "Gracie" (McKinley named her) throwing the football.

Then they typed up a letter to send to the kids in France.

I'm kind of jealous. I remember penpals in elementary school. We got to write to a class clear on the other side of town at good ole Majestic Elementary. That's kind of like France right? What a lucky girl!

Hayden has added a new skill to his list.

He can whistle now!

Blue eyes

According to my genetics unit in school, I'm pretty sure I should have gotten at least one child with my hazel eyes. I got none! I spent my whole young life wishing for blue eyes. I'm glad I get to look into four beautiful pairs of blue eyes every day (five if you count Kent).

Aren't his baby blues beautiful?!

I love his big baby tummy and his yummy baby thighs! Hayden loves putting his hands on his "warm baby tummy".

We love his sweet little smile and his cute giggles when you tickle him!

We're kind of over the moon for this kid!
