Fall pictures

We tried to get some family pictures up Little Cottonwood Canyon to give to Grandpa Chambers for his family history.
It was crowded up there! But we got a few good ones.

First Scout Camp

Sawyer had his first scout camp this weekend. It was originally supposed to be a park and camp overnighter, but we were surprised with the short notice of a backpacking expedition. So Kent rescheduled his oral surgery to help out my baby boy. After securing the appropriate supplies they met at the church at 5, ate dinner at the bottom of the canyon, and then started hiking at dusk. After wandering around the mountain searching for the trail in the dark, they finally found their "camp spot". It was located on a slope, and the two of them ended up at the bottom of the tent by morning.
Sawyer was happy to have his dad with him though, and I was happy to have his dad with him too. Momma don't want no wandering around mountains in the dark with my precious pie! Looks like Kent will be on every scout camp!

Tracy Aviary

I am now Hayden's cub scout leader again. I switched from Wolves to Bears just after Hayden left Wolves. On Saturday we visited Tracy Aviary to fulfill one of the requirements. I haven't been there in probably 30 years. I was pleasantly surprised to see how cool and fun it is there now. Our self-allotted hour went by in the blink of the eye. We could have stayed there much longer. Hayden wants to go back during our off track time.

Hayden is the Toucan bird.

First day of preschool

Today was Josh's first day of preschool. He is going to Miss Heidi's this year because it is right across the road from the elementary school. He has been telling me for a while now that he doesn't want to go to school. He is afraid because it is a new school, new teacher, and new friends. He says he wants to just stay with me. I made him go anyway.
They don't do back packs at this school, they use buckets. They got to decorate them any way they chose. After a few unsuccessful suggestions, he was excited about making it into a Lego head.
He was bribed with a dollar store trip as a reward for being brave on his first day and going even when he was scared. He bought Oreo cookies and Halloween paper plates with his money.

He was a little more enthusiastic to go back the next day. :)

Chicken

We are kind of loving our chickens. This cute little one comes right up to us when we clap our hands. Isn't that sweet. Oh and they lay yummy eggs!

Pumpkin progress

The pumpkins are coming along nicely. We've got a couple of pretty orange ones this year. They aren't giants by giant pumpkin standards, but they'll be fun for fall decoration.

3rd grade cabbage

I think we let the cabbage go a little too long this time. It came in at 26.4 lbs though, so that was respectable.
