Brrr!

We took a short little trip up to the mountains.  All of the fall colors are gone in Little Cottonwood, and the cold temperatures have moved in!  At the peak of the mountain it was 30 degrees!  We were not appropriately dressed for that!  We brought food and intended to have a picnic, but the chilly air led us back to our warm home to eat our picnic.

McKinley was the only one who wanted her pictures taken.

Unless you count crazy pictures!

Josh has had a fever this week, but seemed to be feeling much better today.

Free tram rides this weekend with canned food donations...

I got to squeeze in a couple more pictures of McKinley while the others got in the warm truck.

Pumpkin day

McKinley had her last soccer game of the season today.  I took her and Josh, while Kent took the older boys to the giant pumpkin drop in Pleasant Grove.  The proceeds go to the March of Dimes.

Before McKinley's soccer game we stopped by the Farmer's Market in town to do a little trick or treating.  Josh wouldn't wear his costume though.

After the game we went to the Veridian Center for Pumpkin Palooza.  McKinley, Hayden and I entered the pumpkin decorating contest.

McKinley won 1st place in her age division and got $20!

Our big pumpkin won the grand prize!  A Kindle Fire!  The kid were excited to try it out!

Celebrate!

Tonight was the family party to celebrate Josh's 3rd birthday.  I made some raspberry cupcakes so he could blow out some candles.  He is not a big cake eater though.  He picked off the raspberry and then wanted to pick off and eat all the other raspberries.  I let him pick them off after all the cupcake takers had a chance to get a cupcake first.

There were a lot of people there so he was very reserved and shy.

McKinley helped him open his presents and cue him to say thank you.  Which he did not do.  Too many people and too much attention on him.

He loved his presents though!

Regatta

Our pumpkins weren't big enough this year to enter, but we had fun having a picnic and watching the races.  McKinley wants to row one next year!

3 years old

He's growing up.  Today was Josh's 3rd birthday.  Of course, life is busy, and we spent the day at the PTA jog-a-thon fundraiser together.  I grabbed him a Happy Meal for lunch though.  We were able to end the evening with the whole family and presents.  He got a balance bike which he seemed happy about.  He's in a mood today though, so not much else floated his boat.  I made cupcakes and we lit a candle for him, and then relit it, and relit it, and relit it....you get the idea.  He was having fun blowing out fire.
We love this kid to the moon and back!  We're so glad he's ours!

Fall pictures

After the afternoon session of conference on Sunday, we took a fall drive to look at the leaves and hopefully get some adequate Christmas pictures.  We decided on the Alpine loop.  We've never been there before!  Our first stop was Sundance though, so we could grab a few pictures!

And I saved my favorite for the Christmas card...so you'll just have to wait and see!

First Assembly

McKinley is in the student council presidency this year.  She is the "Leader in Me" representative.  Each month they have an assembly associated with Leader in Me, and McKinley is the designated MC.  She felt nervous beforehand, but then told me that when she was up there, she wasn't nervous at all.  She did a great job.
