Sawyer was asked to hold the banner for our stake's float parade. He didn't want to do it, but afterwards I got him a shake, so he was happy he did it. The next Monday, we met up with cousins at the float preview, then swimming at Grandma and Grandpa VL's.

Swim lessons
Time for swim lessons again at Miss Amee's! I love their saline pool. I made them do the lessons that had them swim the long way in the pool. Sawyer was nervous that he wouldn't be able to do it, but he was perfectly fine. Another year of swim lessons under their belts!

Cub Country
I got to attend Cub Country with two of my boys this year. Hayden is a new Wolf, and Sawyer is still a Bear for one more month. It was so fun to be with both of them. The first day was "Fort Cub" and was themed around explorers and frontier life. The second day was "Jedi Training" complete with appearances by Darth Vader and Storm Troopers. When I asked them what their favorite part was, they said "Everything!" I love scouts! I also now feel a deep responsibility to show my children the Star Wars movies, as they have never seen them!
Launching rockets
Light saber training
The obstacle course
Archery
The one and only year they will both go to cub camp together.

Tennis lessons
We signed up the three oldest for tennis lessons at Marv Jenson again this summer. I made Hayden do it this year too, against his will. Guess what? He LOVED it! He wants to take more tennis now. I told Josh he could do it when he is four, and he wanted to go buy a racket for him right now.

Star gazing
Technically it was mostly planet gazing. We wanted to go up to Snowbird to do their summer star gazing program, but it is closed this year because of construction at the summit. Next year it will be back. So Jupiter and Venus were close and bright this summer. We often watched them approach in the twilight sky. Hayden begged to be awakened to see it one night. The first time I tried he sat up in bed and then promptly laid back down to sleep. The next time I tried, after he begged me to try again, I carried him outside. As soon as he sat down he buried himself in the chair and tried to sleep.
Oh well, so we stayed up late one night camping to watch stars and counted that.
