Moo

We picked up our cow meat today from Circle V Meat.  We got 1/4 cow.  McKinley had fun playing 'meat packer' with our food saver.  We finally had to plug in our big freezer after 3 years of not using it.

Can't catch a break

Well, off track time is at an end, and poor McKinley spent most of it being sick.  She ended up being strep negative, but has had a lovely virus with a lingering dry cough.  Today she added a nice itchy set of hives to her list of ailments.  Poor kid can't catch a break!

Big boy bed

I finally took down the crib and put up the big bed for Josh.  Sigh.  My last baby.
Every night I place him in the middle and stack his animals all around him so he won't tumble out.  He looks so tiny in that great big bed!

French buttercream fail

We tried our hand at making French buttercream.  It turned out tasting greasy.  I'm not sure if we didn't get enough of the sugar syrup in it, or the what.  I might try again...maybe.  It took 3 CUPS of butter!

A fine day

What a nice day today!  We headed out to the park for some outside time.  As we were heading back to the car, Josh ran to catch up to McKinley to hold her hand.  It was perfect.

Later that night we opened our 'passport' to Australia for FHE.  I hurriedly researched an Australian treat and came up with Pavlova.  Our first!  It was very yummy according to me, McKinley and Josh.  The strawberries were good according to Sawyer, and the meringue was only good according to Hayden.  We didn't even try to get Kent to try.

Tulip Festival

Today was the start of Spring break/off-track.  I am a grumpy gus today, so I thought a trip to the tulip festival would be just the thing.  I needed to get there on one of the weekends so that the vendors would be there and I could get a fresh stroop waffel!
Although the forecast promised 70 degrees today, it was low 60's with a chilly little breeze.  But it was overcast, which is great for pictures!

The big hit of the gardens is always rolling down the hill.
Oh that's priceless!  I have shots just like this from Oktoberfest too (except German-y)

The flowers are beautiful right now.

One of the rare times he stood still enough for a photo.

The stroop waffels did not disappoint!

nummy!

Coloring Eggs

It is a trial of my patience, but we colored our eggs last night for the Easter season.
Sawyer completely mashed one with his wayward elbow, then knocked over a whole cup of yellow dye.  Test. Of. Patience.
One day I'll pass.
Otherwise they enjoyed this Family Night, but were livid when I had to tell them there was nothing for our FHE snack.  Oi vay!
