While on our way to check out the Las Vegas Deloitte office we stopped by Utah to have the kids watched and visit for the first time in two years.
It was great to be back.
July 2- we arrived late at night and headed straight for bed.
July 3- We hung out at my parents, visited Kent's parents, played all day outside on the nice, soft, tick-free grass. When night came, Grandpa pulled out his telescope to look at the full moon.
4th of July! I went to the neighborhood breakfast with my dad while everyone else stayed home and played some more. My family came over for a BBQ in the afternoon. That night we made some yummy smores, followed by good ole neighborhood fireworks. I liked the newly-legal, illegal fireworks, until one of them tipped over and sprayed sideways towards us and the house.
July 5- we saw Brave today in a nice big, stadium seating theater. I thought it was good. The boys didn't like the scary bear.
July 6- we went boating with my parents and let the kids do some tubing on Jordanelle. McKinley tried to waterski a couple of times then gave up. Kent was a champ and did some slalom skiing. I held the baby.
July 7- My mom does a special shopping trip for the new kindergarteners, so we took Hayden on his trip. He was not a fun shopper. He only wanted toys and turned grumpers at each store we went in to. After our fun trip, we headed down to Provo for an early dinner at one of our favorites--Los Hermanos. Sawyer wanted to grab a BYU jersey while we were down there, but the bookstore was closed.
July 8- We packed up from my parents house and headed over the Kent's parents house for the rest of the trip. Kent and I left to Vegas late afternoon to check out the office and see if it was a good fit for us. The temperatures in Vegas were around 108-114 while we were there. It kind of felt like a hair dryer blowing at my face at first. After the initial shock stepping out from air conditioned buildings, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
July 9- lunch at Caesar's with the partner at Deloitte. I had a yummy lettuce wedge with bleu cheese. We drove around Henderson for a little while and tried to catch a movie (but couldn't) before our business dinner with the same partner and another couple at Vintner Grill in Summerlin. It was delicious! A little fancy for Kent's taste, but I loved my dish!
July 10- Business meetings for Kent first thing in the morning. I met up with work people again at lunch at the Cosmopolitan (the Wicked Spoon). I ate far too many calories this trip. We left that evening and were back in Utah around 7:00. The trip didn't convince us to move to Las Vegas yet.
July 11- Hung out, played with cousins, then Kent and I went to a movie and Target all. by. ourselves. That doesn't happen much in CT.
July 12- Went swimming in the grandparents community pool. Josh was not a big fan and I spent my time trying to convince him it was just a big bathtub. After lunch we went to Albion basin for a nice hike with cousins to Cecret Lake. The wildflowers are just getting to peak. It was lovely. After enjoying the pine trees and mountains we got some Cafe Rio for me and Little Caesars per Sawyer's request.
